Pure Religion

I turn on the news and hear about people killing in the name of God and I’m disgusted.
I browse the news online and read about people picketing in the name of God and I’m annoyed.
I walk into a building and see a person being segregated in the name of religion and I’m appalled.
I’m sick and tired of people hijacking religion for their own selfish purposes, for real y’all I’m done.
So I crack open my bible for an explanation for a definition of religion and I get this.
Pure and undefiled religion before God and the Father is this: to visit orphans and widows in their trouble, and to keep oneself unpolluted from the world. James 1: 27
And now I’m just humbled.
You see it’s how we treat the least of these
It’s how we act when the road gets rough
It’s how we treat the least of these that shows who we are
We’re not defined by the words that we speak or the day of the week that we choose to appear meek and uniquely gather to discuss doctrinal matters. That is not who we are
The length of our skirt matters naught to the needy when their bellies are empty, so gently let’s pull back the cover and rediscover the essence of us being.
Here on this planet,
we exist to make him visible; our job is to show a dying world the invisible Christ.
The moment you take on his name your aim is to proclaim his love but instead we complain and profane his name,                                                                                                                                                                             When you come out of the watery grave you in effect say that you will daily empty yourself in order to show them Him.
But instead we lobby in the hobbies to legislate change when instead we’ve been called to be a light that the world cannot ignore because of our love not because of our political might.
Light cannot be heard, so why do we discuss it
Light can only be seen so let us present it with our deeds
Please
We are too busy pointing fingers so we fail to use our whole hands to assist the long line of those who have been dismissed by society, quietly confirming what they know to be true, that we speak but do not do that which we have been called to. Which is
To make the invisible God visible
Each breathe we are given is to complete this task, to show the world that He does exist and that His love endures forever, but wrapped in our ivory towers we are kept clean and pristine so His love is unseen,
this is obscene,
our insistence on speaking and keeping but not sharing and living out His love  and so instead we make a mockery of the very thing that we profess to possess
Unless we address this issue we make much ado about nothing because this says who we really are

It’s how we treat the least of these
It’s how we act when the roads gets rough
It’s how we treat the least of these that shows who we are

You see we got it twisted thinking it’s about the rules we follow or the words we speak that have now become so shallow as we claim to follow the one who gave His life so that all men can have live without sorrow
The world is crying for help.

Each breathe you take but fail to make a difference with is wasted.
Each breathe you take but fail to make a difference with is wasted.
Each breathe I take but fail to make a difference with is wasted.
Until, only until  Your reaction defines your heart, until it breaks with sorrow over the death of a lost one.
Until your knees ache cuz u were on them till daybreak pleading, begging God to give you one more day to impact one more life, earnestly beseeching, asking for his mercy to cover the lost you know until they see the light you show.
Until your first reaction is not to accuse but to rescue to save the depraved,
until your conscience chooses assistance that crosses the distance to those in need in Haiti, in Sudan, in China, in Syria, in Libya, in London, in Gabon, in Myanmar, in Syria, in Sudan, in Afganistan, in Iran, in Somalia, in Haiti, in Syria in Libya in London, on Dundas
Cuz  The bible says
Pure and undefiled religion before God and the Father is this: to visit orphans and widows in their trouble, and to keep oneself unpolluted from the world. James 1: 27
And the only way you can do it, is by having a relationship with the One who is able to keep you from falling and to present you faultless before the throne of the God, the one who is able to give you a passion to help the lost, the only True God.
Look
It’s how you treat the least of these
It’s how I act when the roads gets rough
It’s how we treat the least of these that shows we are, who we really are.

Small God

The smaller your god, the easier faith is
Because a small god doesn't expect much from you
The smaller your god, the easier obedience is
Because a small god doesn't ask you to challenge society's norms.
The smaller your god, the easier surrender is
Because a small god doesn't require you to submit to his will.

The smaller your god, the harder peace is
Because a small god requires you to inform him of how to solve every problem
The smaller your god, the harder love is
Because a small god will gladly let you haul guilt from yester years.
The smaller your god, the harder life is
Because a small god will let you walk into a wall, fall and ignore you when you call

A god I can control,
A god I can predict,
A god I can manipulate
is an idol.

The God I can't control,
The God I can't predict,
The God I can't manipulate,
is God
A loving Father,
who is able to keep you from falling,
present you faultless before the throne,
perfect all that concerns you,
and do immeasurably and abundantly more than you can fathom.

So which God will you choose?

God IS ... : I

Songspiration I : Pressure

Expectations
Doctor, Lawyer, Banker, or Professor
Those are the options, laid out as petitions by your well-meaning parents in an attempt to direct your ambition.

Deacon, Minister, Youth Leader or Worship Coordinator
Those are the church positions, that the nominating committee discussions have recommended you for based on your previous exhibition of religion.

White, Black, Senior Citizen, Teenager,
Parent, Child, Single-Mother, Adult Learner
Each label comes laden with a collection of expectations that influences our actions.
Each minute we live seems orchestrated by the titles we aspire to obtain or in other situations maintain.

Expectations that must be met
and so the pressure builds, with each breath,
scaring us to death —the death of individuality and uniqueness.

And yet the only Wise One silently calls your name.
What will it be?
A life defined as success by society or a life of service defined by God.

It is easy to substitute the voice of the well-meaning multitude for the silence of the One.
It is so easy to succumb to the need to fulfill their expectations than wait in anticipation for direction for the One.

Teach me Lord to live to please ONLY YOU, my true audience of one.

Another Attempt

I need to speak
to give hope to the weak
and ignite a feat that compels others to seek
the One who neither slumbers nor sleeps,
who intercedes on our behalf because He loves us.

He loves you

He loves mii!

Just as I am without one plea
Except that His blood was shed on a tree
To make me free, and yet on most days I flee
His grace and take refuge in the noise of the babble
Empty words polluting my conscience
Hindering me from hearing Him

Oh to just bask in the silence and be still.

To be still until the words that flow affirm the reason for my existence
To be still until the words that flow are a sweet fragrance
Reminding the world of His constant presence

I need to speak
No, I need to be still
Bringing into captivity every thought, until He speaks thru' mii

.... the return of the unspoken

...
Where do I start. I tried to return two years ago, but I couldn't.
So here we are in 2015 and the need once again rises to speak to put thoughts to words and pen to paper.
But I hesitate, primarily because I need it to be ALL Him.

So the plan is bi-monthly, every 1st and 3rd Wednesday.

So help mii God.
